Aryans (Short Description) - Ruling Clans, Conflicts and Battles.

•  Aryans came into conflict with the indigenous inhabitants called dasas, dasyus etc. 

• The Aryans were divided into five tribes called Panchjana, but there might have been other tribes too. 

•  The Aryans fought amongst themselves and sometimes enlisted the support of Non-Aryan people for the purpose. 

• The Bharatas and  Tristu were the ruling Aryan clans and they were supported by priest Vashishtha. 

• The country Bharatvarsha was eventually named after the tribe Bharata, which is first mentioned in the Rig Veda. 

•  The Bharata ruling clan was opposed by a host of ten chiefs, five of whom were heads of Aryan tribes and remaining five of Non-Aryan people. 

• The battle that Bharata fought with the host of ten chiefs is known as Battle of Ten Kings. 

• It was fought on river Parushni, coterminous with the river Ravi.
